The AUTORE Group's milestones and achievements since establishing in 1991.
1991
Rosario Autore founded Pearlautore International Pty Ltd (“PAI”) with the personal ambition to bring the best pearl farms in Australia together with the most exclusive international wholesale buyers. The company commenced operating with only one producer, acting purely as a broker providing that first producer with exclusive grading, valuing and distribution services.
1992
Increased the number of exclusive producers to four.
Established the first grading and valuation process for producers.
Commenced exporting directly to Europe and the United States.
Created a wider distribution channel for Australian producers which were, at that time, mainly selling loose lots to Japan.
1993
Commenced the first half pearl (“mabe”) factory in Australia, producing 5,000 half pearls per month.
1994
First trade advertising campaign.
Increased the number of exclusively-represented producers to seven.
1995
Established Autore South Sea Pearls Pty Ltd (“ASSP”), a wholesale company, to supply retailers with loose South Sea pearls and South Sea pearl strands in the Australian and New Zealand domestic markets.
1996
Established a strategic supply agreement with an Indonesian pearl farm, later to become AUTORE’s own Indonesian pearl farm, PT Autore Pearl Culture.
Held first auction and private tender at TAG’s Sydney head office.
1997
Commenced making pearl strands after recognising the opportunity of mixing farm harvests to source enough high-quality pearls to command premium wholesale prices.
1998
Moved into new head office with purpose-built viewing rooms and increased value-adding and strand-making capacity.
1999
First AUTORE public auction inviting 34 large international wholesaling companies to participate. Sales exceeded $20 million in three days.
2000
Achieved sales equal to 25% of value of total global production of white South Sea pearls.
2001
Launched the AUTORE South Sea pearl brand into the Australian market with the Out of The Blue Campaign.
Jewellery Partner Collette Dinnigan Fashion Show.
Event in collaboration with Myer Melbourne.
2002
Commenced first AUTORE brand campaign at the Australian Fashion Week.
Mr Rosario Autore was named as an Australian Entrepreneur of the Year finalist.
Launched first AUTORE luxury lifestyle magazine.
2003
Established AJewel Pty Ltd (“AJP”), a pearl jewellery design and manufacturing business, to capture the developing international pearl jewellery market.

2004
Australian Olympic swimmer and gold medal winner, Ian Thorpe, became an AUTORE-brand ambassador.
AUTORE-branded product became recognised by A-list Hollywood celebrities resulting in product placement and promotion at the 2005 Academy Awards.
Recipient of an Australia’s 50 Most Beautiful Exports Award.
Fashion Week Alexander McQueen.
Commence production on AUTORE's debut collection to be launched in 2005.
2005
Acquired Indonesian South Sea pearl farms and established PT Autore Pearl Culture.
Product placement on ten different celebrities during the Academy Awards, featured on Entertainment TV for the Award’s Red Carpet live television special broadcast, and mentioned on five occasions during the two hour presentation, viewed by over 47 million people in the United States alone.
Awarded an Australia’s 50 Most Beautiful Exports Award for the second year.
Awarded the Australian Government Export Finance and Insurance Corporation Australian Trailblazers Award in the “Luxury and Design” category.
Launched Oceania Collection in Basel at Baselworld.
Spanish Vogue Magazine, Vogue Joyas, Award for “Jewellery Trend”.

2006
Acquired equity stake in leading Australian producer, Clipper Pearls Pty Ltd.
Achieved increased production and sales of strands to approximately 4,000 pieces per annum, making AUTORE one of the largest suppliers of South Sea pearl strands in the world.
Awarded Australia’s 50 Most Beautiful Exports Award for the third year in a row.

2007
Established the AUTORE Five S’s South Sea Cultured Pearl Classification Guide.
Gübelin Gem Lab request the usage of the Classification Guide as the basis for their future certification of pearls.
Exhibited in Baselworld with overwhelming success and international acclaim.
2008
Awarded a medal of distinction by the French Senate for AUTORE’S contribution to pearl education.
Produced the internationally acclaimed Oceania collection of bespoke South Sea pearl jewellery pieces.
Winner of three major international jewellery design awards including:
Winner Spanish Vogue magazine’s Vogue Joyas ‘Premio Especial Reduccion’ for best new collection in Basel; and
Winner of Best Pearl Design at Couture, Las Vegas, presented by Town and Country Magazine.
Distributed 85,000 copies of AUTORE magazine published in six languages.
2009
AUTORE awarded the Italian Designer of the Year Award at the UK Jewellery Awards.
First flagship store opened in Sydney.
2010
Winner – Veranda Art of Design Awards, USA.
Winner – Best Pearl Design Award for the “Princess of the Lagoon” Venezia
Collection, Couture, USA.
Finalist – Italian Jewellery Designer of the Year, UK Jewellery Awards.
2011
Received 2nd consecutive ARC Grant for research partnership with University of Queensland into the Pinctada maxima genome.
2012
Established two new farm sites in Indonesia.
2015
Winner of the “Best Pearl Jewellery Design” Award for the “Orange Blossom Cuff” Orchid Collection, Couture, USA.
2016
Recipient of the Partners in Research Excellence Award (PIREA) 2016, recognising AUTORE’s ground-breaking scientific research in the relationship between pearl characteristics and gene expression.
2018
Acquired new farming business in Australia (Ellies Pearling) to increase
Clipper Pearls’ quota holding to the second largest in Australia.
Winner - Best in Pearls Award for the “Dragon Necklace” Metropolitan Collection, Couture, US.
2019
Re-established a European office in Stuttgart, Germany with three experienced staff each with over 20 years’ experience in the pearling industry.
2020
Ruby Autore, daughter of Rosario & Jane, establishes AUTORE MODA. An accessible Demi-Fine Jewellery line.
2022
Autore wins 9th International Design award for Best in Fine Jewellery for the “Serpent Necklace” Inhorgenta, Munich.
Autore Moda opens first Flagship Boutique in Double Bay, Sydney.
2024
Autore wins 10th & 11th International Design Award.
Winner- Best in Pearls Award for the “Enchantress Necklace” Ophidia Collection, Couture, USA.
Winner- Best in High Jewellery for the “Enchantress Necklace” Inhorgenta, Munich.
